SALEM CHURCH COALITION - STAY CONNECTED WITH UCC RESOURCES
A message from Caroline Dunleavy, our PA Conference Contact and Social Action Committee Member
Salem Friends, we really need your help!
For the past few weeks, the Social Action Committee (SAC) has been providing you with information about the Salem Church Coalition offering to support the programs and services provided by our denomination, the United Church of Christ.  The denomination refers to this offering as Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM), and it is so true.  As wonderful as it is to be the local church at Salem, there is so much more work to be done in the world, and much of it happens through our relationship with the United Church of Christ, both in the Philadelphia region, throughout the U.S., and around the world.
Specifically, I called your attention to the fact that our regional denominational body, the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference, provided an unprecedented, one-time gift of $1,000 to each of the United Church of Christ congregations in our area due to the challenges presented by COVID-19.  Salem used these funds to make facilities improvements at Freeman Hall.
I want to personally challenge us to repay at least that $1,000 Conference gift through our Salem Church Coalition offering to the denomination.  (And, hopefully, we can raise a little more than that.) Historically, Salem has been generous in its offerings to the denomination, so I hope we can continue to honor that tradition.
If you have already donated to this important offering, thank you for your support!  If you have not, please do so as soon as possible.  You can donate online by choosing “Salem Church Coalition” in the dropdown menu, or please mark your check “UCC Missions” in the memo line.
This year, Salem's special offering for Salem Church Coalition (OCWM) is now through September 13th. You can donate on our website and choose the drop-down for "SALEM CHURCH COALITION" or by mailing a check to Salem and marking it "UCC Missions."

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT – ROADSIDE CLEAN-UP
A message from Lindy Syme Ratcliffe, Chair for Salem’s Roadside Clean Up
October 3rd at 8:45 AM meet and prep.
Hey, guys...it's me, Lindy. Oct 3 is approaching fast and we need YOUR help with Salem's Roadside Cleanup Event. We start at 9 am and will be done by 11, so you'll have the whole rest of the day to take care of stuff, feeling good about the work that you did to beautify the community you live in.  We will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing and PennDot supplies all our other needs: vests, gloves and bags.  It's an easy way to get involved with social action...all you have to do is show up and spend some time with like minded people taking pride in the neighborhood! We have two sites: the ramps at 611 and Broad, and a stretch on Lower State on either side of Del Val Market. Come on out and join the fun!
To sign up for this event, call the church at 215.348.9860 or EMAIL US with the names of those attending, emails, and phone numbers.
