Children in Worship
Children are welcome and wanted in worship!
Some of our kids choose to stay in worship while others head to Sunday School after the Children's Message (about 15 minutes into worship.) We offer Sunday School for kids Pre-K through 6th grade. The first Sunday of the month is an intergenerational communion service.
God put the wiggle in the child, and so we offer a "Pray-ground" for children under 6 in the front of the sanctuary. This is an intentional space that allows children to move around and engage soft toys, books, and craft supplies, as is developmentally appropriate, while taking in the rhythms of worship and participating in the various parts of the service. Simply put, it’s a space for young children to be themselves and be part of the church at the same time.
Music at Salem
Music plays a big role at Salem. Adults and children - from beginners to professionals - express and celebrate their faith through music. Our approach to music is intentionally diverse, eclectic, and not what you'd normally expect. Our worship services are relevant for people who are brand new to a church experience and those who have a long church background. We blend religious music as well as jazz, folk, Broadway, classical, and more.
